The haven of peace IXIA has been looking for
To close this cycle of twenty years of painting, IXIA was looking for an original setting, where greenery met light and color. This very special space is the Hôtel Les Deux Girafes. From October 3, 2023 to January 2, 2024, our walls will showcase IXIA's canvases and naturally welcome her research into a perpetual feminine motif, reinvented in a highly personal style at the crossroads of cubism, impressionism and surrealism. On her canvases, which range from very small formats to much larger ones, IXIA uses oil paint in a delicate brushwork that creates a very soft, pastel-like rendering.
Nature and color
While the feminine is at the heart of IXIA's canvases, she also develops her research around other themes. Nature plays an important role. This explains the exhibition's title: naturELLES, a fusion of the feminine and nature. But IXIA also sees beyond this. Inspired by the work of André Minaux, she tries to pierce the veil, to go further, and thus access the dream. The richness and diversity of her canvases reflect the complexity of this journey, from the very fifties ambiance of her series on the seven deadly sins to her Onde en vert, where her cubist inspirations are clearly visible.
